Kids at Weddings Feb 1

I love kids. It started when I got a baby sister when I was 12 and it has continued as some of my good friends have great kids I babysit regularly. Kelli and I have been married for less than two years so we’re waiting a little while to have our own, but it’s something I really look forward too. In the meantime, I have a lot of fun at weddings watching and photographing the kids. Sometimes they’re running around or dancing, they’re constantly goofing off, and I’m not opposed to breaking from “photojournalism” mode to stick my tongue out or make a funny face to get a reaction. Here are a few of my favorite kid moments from weddings in the past year or so.

  1. I’m surprised that cake made it to the cutting! Those girls look like they are about to tear it apart. Great shots.

Love the way you handle kids. Such pure joy, you have to be fast to capture those moments. Their parents will be forever grateful.

Its been interesting for me as well as I have stepped (halfway) into the wedding photography world… as my lens tends to gravitate towards the children… of course, it sticks with the bride – but I find that I am quick to see those brief glimpses and exchanges between children during a wedding… Its probably their boredom that makes them more entertaining and adorable!

gosh, that first frame with the little blonde staring dreamily at the wedding cake is completely charming. It’s as if she’s already planning her own big day…sigh…:) And the one of the Indian girl catching up on some texting is hilarious. I think my kids know how to work my phone better than I ever will. And I really like the richness and mood of the young Indian princess in the last image. Great post.
