She said yes
Congratulations to Ian and Lisa!
Guys! Pay attention and take notes, this is how you propose in style:
First Ian sent Lisa to a spa while he and some good friends prepared a candle-lit desert in a 16th floor penthouse suite in Grand Rapids.

He then picked her up from the spa and took her to a nice dinner. After which he told her he had a special spot for dessert. The room was lit by a few dozen candles and waiting on the table were roses, dessert, champagne, and photos of them together. After sitting, a cello player entered quietly and began playing as Ian dropped to his knee. All the while I waited on the rainy patio grabbing shots through the window then quietly sneaking in for a few more.

After some kind words and asking for her hand in marriage, she said “yes” through tears of joy!

Then the friends came from their hiding place in the hall and helped celebrate with a champagne toast.

After the rain cleared for a few minutes, we made our way out to the roof-top patio for a little photography by city light.

And of course the bride-to-be had some calls to make!

The rain seemed to be tapering off…

So it was time to head down and celebrate some more.

We took a nice walk a few blocks through Grand Rapids to a great micro-brewery…

And met up with Lisa’s sister and her fiance.

After a few drinks with friends and family…

It was time to call it a night, at least for the girls; the guys still needed to go down to the river…

For a congratulatory cigar.

Well done Ian! No doubt Lisa will look back on this night and keep realizing more and more little things you did to make everything come together so perfectly, and each realization will be a reminder to her how much you love and care for her.
And this shot makes me think of Batman…

What a cool idea, and a refreshing break from Jumbotron proposals at sporting events (not that those *aren’t* cool in their own way…)! Also, I love the way you sneak your watermark in – I did a double-take at the one on the sofa.
