wedding prep Mar 18
Photographers like myself do many things during the “off-season” to prepare to make great wedding pictures for our clients. I constantly carry my camera; shooting friends, family, pets, texture, details, and constantly seeking out good light. I participate in several online photography communities as well as browsing print and web for inspiration. I keep up with the latest photography gear and techniques. I also attend seminars to learn from immensely talented photographers.
Yesterday I went to Grand Rapids to attend a day-long seminar with Cliff Mautner, a wedding photographer who has won many prestigious awards and has photographed over 700 weddings in the past 10 years. Listing his awards means nothing to someone unfamiliar, so go look at his photos which speak for themselves, particularly this image which caused my eyes to tear up a bit as he described the moment.
Anyway, it was a wonderful and educational day and I’m excited for my wedding season to start in just a few weeks!

Had a beautiful day to shoot outside for a bit:
