love in action Jan 21
This past Sunday a truly awesome event occurred in Lansing; one that started nearly a month ago when 30 area churches teamed up to take donations for the Mid-Michigan Food Bank which was facing a serious shortage. They were in need of $40,000 to provide food in January for all the families they help, but when the numbers finally came in from the Christmas Eve donations it was over $114,000!! On Sunday this great collaboration culminated with over 2000 people from those churches gathering to personally deliver the packages of food to the families in need. It was incredible to see such a diversity of churches working together to meet real needs in our community. I came to document the day for my church (as well as deliver some packages), and yes, that is one of my pastors wearing his puffy jacket and gi-normous boots on stage with all the other pastors in suits.
(To Jack and others involved in this event: please use these images freely. They are accessible here. I simply ask that if there is a reasonable way to give photo credit to brettmaxwellphoto.com you do so.)
